CALLING ALL FEMALE-IDENTIFYING PLAYWRIGHTS!
This year, as Talking Horse celebrates the Year of the Woman, we will focus on finding three women (or female-identifying) playwrights for our annual Starting Gate New Play Festival, scheduled for November 13-15. Each selected playwright will be asked to write two 10-minute plays based on a dialectic selected by the New Play Committee. (Stay tuned for the dialectic!)
Our festival is unique in that the plays are workshopped in July and September, cast in October, and then presented in November. The workshops provide constructive feedback for the playwrights as they hone their creative talents. So, while our audiences enjoy the performances, the real stars of the festival are the plays themselves, and our playwrights are celebrated for their creative talent and efforts!
If you or someone you know would be interested in submitting a sample of your writing for the committee, we’d love to hear from you! Deadline for submission for the 2020 Starting Gate New Play Festival is Saturday, April 18. Those selected will be announced in early May.
